Bee Gee
Bee Gee is our family's 5th guide dog puppy. She was born on October
16th which just happens to be our wedding anniversary. She is
our first yellow lab and one we will not forget.
We met Dr.
Sage early one morning after Bee Gee had an all night "puking
fest". We had no idea why Bee Gee was so sick. Dr. Sage recommended
that we do X-rays to determine the root of her problem. This is
when we discovered that she had eaten a rock ( a favorite thing
for her to do). A piece of pea gravel had wedged itself and was
blocking her stomach. A few hours later she was in surgery.
Bee Gee was
doing very well after that. She was a "cone head" and
still ate anything she could get her mouth on.
It was about
one week later that we noticed some scabs on her back. So back
to Dr. Sage we went. A few days later, she had many scabs. It
looked like her skin was bursting open in spots and the spots
were turning into patches of dead skin. Dr. Sage took samples
of the skin and infected areas to have biopsied, but the tests
were inconclusive. Off to surgery Bee Gee went again.
She had the
infected skin removed from her neck all the way to her bottom
and the skin was stapled shut to heal. Bee Gee was now named "Frankenpup".
I think we
saw Dr. Sage about every couple of days from here on out for one
reason or another.
Bee Gee is
now doing great. Her fur is starting to grow and hide some of
her scars, but she prefers to be stylish and still wear one of
her beautiful shirts anyway.
