Periwinkle is a beautiful black & white
cat with greenish eyes. She arrived in my house 14 ½ years
ago as a kitten in a gift-wrapped box — with air holes of
course. Friends surprised me with her as a housewarming gift.
When I set the box aside for later, they insisted that I open
it right away. I soon knew why! Her name is my favorite color
and since I was using that color in my decor and the kitten was
a gift for my home, Periwinkle received her name. Peri still has
her kitten personality, purrs lots, and loves to play —
especially with string. Her meow is a dainty squeak.
Josh on the other hand is all boy. He
doesn’t meow so much as howls. Not often, but when he does,
you know it! At 10 months he needed to find a new home; his owners
didn’t want him or his brother Zach any longer. Since I
was looking to adopt only one cat, I had to choose. Josh seemed
easier going, so I thought he would get along with Periwinkle.
I was right. After a few days of Periwinkle’s growling,
those growls soon turned to purrs. Now Josh has lived with us
for 5 ½ years. And his brother Zach went to a good home
too. Josh’s favorite perch is at the kitchen window, watching
the birds splashing in the birdbath.
