Woof! My name
is Garbanzo Books, Earl of Bourbon, and I am so excited to have
been chosen as February's Pet of the Month! I was born in 1996
to a long line of Champion Show Pugs in Woodland Hills, Ca. When
my mommy and daddy first saw me, I was curled up in a little ball,
just like a little "garbanzo bean," but I quickly woke
up and won them over with my crooked smile, it was love at first
sight, and I had them hooked! They took me home to raise me in
Orange and provided me with the good life, which includes regular
care and check-ups from the wonderful folks at Orange Villa Veterinary
Hospital.
Don't tell this to Dr. Horn or Dr. Dahlem, but in my early days,
I used to be pretty wild. I used to eat people food regularly.
French Fries were my favorite! I'd growl at you if you tried to
take away my pig's ear. But, I've paid the price...I now tip the
scales at a cuddly 25 pounds, and the doctors have put me on a
diet. Two years ago, it was discovered that neurological problems
were causing my back legs to slip out from under me, so I can't
exercise. Thanks to my friends at OVVH and Southern California
Veterinary Referral Group my condition is now under control and
I am enjoying life with small accommodations to make me comfortable.
Soon, I will be getting a doggie wheelchair so that I can exercise
and no one will be able to catch up with me!
In the meantime, it's the little things in life that make me happy.
Of course, not many things make me unhappy, just airplanes, people
leaving, and having my nails clipped (it takes several people
to do it, and you may have heard me howling from the lobby at
OVVH during a pedicure.) I love my family, licking their feet,
watching TV and guarding my mommy from her pillow while she sleeps...but
best of all, I love Dr. Horn and Dr. Dahlem and everyone at Orange
Villa Veterinary Hospital for making me Pet of the Month. Do I
get some French Fries now?
