Hello.
My name is Yushi. I live in Northeast Orange with my family.
I have the distinct pleasure of living
with the two best humans…my mom and dad, Lois and Charles.
While I am an incredibly beautiful 14 lb Shih Tzu who is ten
years old, I have only been living in my home for seven of those
years. I was actually born and named Lady Madonna. My doggy parents
then were Chop-Chop and Princess Tatiana. I didn’t like
having to share attention, so when I was about two, I started
looking for a new home. I knew that I had found my new parents
quickly, jumping on their laps and licking them. I decided
to go home with them and I have never regretted the decision,
although
I do miss my old family sometimes. My new parents gave me a
new name, Yushi. I have my new parents quite nicely wrapped
around
my paws.
I
really enjoy the finer things in life, sitting on laps, steak,
chasing cats, chasing golf balls, sleeping in
bed with my parents…I have a really good time really. I
tell you, things could not be better.
That
was until October 16th. That day, I was minding my own business,
chasing cats in the backyard, as I so
love to do, when in broad daylight I was brutally and savagely
attacked by a coyote. The nasty brute almost killed me. He jumped
the six foot fence He tried to ruin my good looks and almost
completely tore the skin from my back. Boy was I scared. My parents
were even more scared. Luckily, I got away from the coyote and
my parents rushed me down to Orange Villa. Dr. Sage was there
and on the case. The surgery and recovery were long. I had to
have a lot of bandage changes and a lot of really nice pain medication.
Finally on December 3rd, I was given a clean bill of health and
no more bandages. I do have a big scar. It’s a constant
reminder for me that I’m in coyote country and I have to
be much more careful when I’m outside. I’d like to
remind my dog friends (and cats too) that coyotes are really
fast and sneaky and they can sometimes get you during the day
too. I don’t go out chasing cats by myself anymore…my
parents think that it’s too dangerous.
Thanks
to Orange Villa for making me pet of the month. I deeply appreciate
the honor…but what took
you so long? Thanks a bunch,
Yushi
