Britt and Muffin lead a Dog's life. Britt is a 10-year-old Rhodesian
Ridgeback and Lab mix and Muffin is pure Lab puppy. Britt came
to live with us as a "rescue dog" just days away from
the shelter. At 18 months, 60 lbs. and no training she was a handful,
but with a lot of patience, strong guidance and lots of love she
has become an ideal companion. She has always assumed the role
of Alpha dog and kept good watch over the family and other pets,
often stepping in between our older Lab "Maggie" and
any strange dog that may have been encountered on the beach or
trails.
We got
Muffin after Maggie passed on, as it seemed that Britt needed
a companion and I know that we did, too. She is now 9 months old,
has graduated from puppy school with honors, and thinks that everything
is hers to play with. She is not too sure what "Alpha dog"
means and Britt lets her romp and play under a watchful eye. The
Orange Park Acres summer is a little hot for Muffin, but Britt
seems to do quite well. They have their own "houses",
"Beds" more toys than a dog should reasonably expect
and a large yard with several levels to run and play in. They
get exceptional veterinary care at Orange Villa and don't seem
to mind trips to the Vet at all. Indeed it's a Dog's life!
