Jax
(Brindle) and Cloe (Fawn) are beautiful four-year-old pure bread
Boxers. Cloe is one week older than Jax and when they first came
home, Cloe had to show Jax the ropes. Jax could barely walk, but
in no time at all Cloe had Jax running and jumping (and shredding
our house apart). Now, Jax out weighs Cloe by more than 20 pounds
and he forgets sometimes just how big he is. While Cloe thinks
she is a princess and demands to be treated as such. Now days
the two can be found cuddling in bed – they are inseparable.
Jax
was born in Fontana, CA and is from the Boardwalk Kennel line
of Boxers. Jax is a big friendly dog, he is happy all the time,
and loves other dogs, children and people. Jax will greet you
with an overactive tongue, it goes all the time and we say he
is telling stories. Jax’s pastimes include eating wood and
plant life, destroying toys and sunbathing.
Jax
has overcome many obstacles in his short lifespan. We almost lost
Jax at a young age when he had an allergic reaction to his Parvo
booster. Within 30 minutes of getting the booster shot, he went
into anaphylactic shock. He was rushed back to the office where
Dr. Dahlem and Dr. Horn fixed him back-up. His next close calls
where due to his affinity for chewing up just about anything.
Recently he was diagnosed with possible Pancreatitis. A long story
short, Jax had a plastic “squeaker” from a toy lodged
inside of his intestines. After nearly five months of good days
and bad days, losing weight and trying different remedies, Dr.
Dahlem performed exploratory surgery. Low and behold, Jax’s
overactive mouth got him in trouble again. The plastic squeaker
was buried in his intestine and was dangerously close to breaking
through. After losing 25 pounds, Jax is now returning to his normal
self.
Cloe
was born in Rancho Bernardo, CA and is from the Telstar line of
Boxers. Cloe is a more petite dog with a big growl and bark. One
could definitely say she is a Diva. She likes to be in charge
and shows everyone she is the boss. As the saying goes, her bark
is much worse than her bite. She just loves to be loved, by people
that is. Cloe does not take well to other dogs, but she loves
people and most of all children. She is very protective and we
all feel safe and loved with her at home. Cloe also enjoys her
many stuffed toys (the ones with sound recordings inside) and
lying on her back (which makes Jax jealous, since he can’t
do it).
In
2001, Cloe became a mother to four lovely puppies. (The father
is an up-and-coming champion within the Telstar line.) This was
quite an experience for all of us. She was able to have the puppies
by natural birth right in our very own garage. At first, Cloe
was a little confused and not sure quite what to do, but her mothering
instincts kicked right in and she did a fine job. Cloe recovered
quite nicely from the entire experience, now she enjoys raising
our 11-month-old daughter Jessica.
Jessica,
Jax and Cloe have fast become friends. They have fun playing ball
all together. Jessica also loves to watch Cloe roll on the ground
with one of her many stuffed toys and watch Jax jump around like
a bucking bronco when it’s time for dinner.
