Winston and Clementine
This is the story of a couple who didn't want a pet. George is allergic to dogs. We both work full time, and I sure didn't think we had the time or energy to devote to a pet. Too much responsibility. One year later, we are the proud and fulfilled "parents" of not one, but two wonderful fur-faces: Winston and Clementine. Winston is a Labrad or Retriever, and Clemmie is a Lab mix. We are not sure what mix, but we are sure that she has some hound in her as well as retriever. She has the cutest little ridge right down the middle of her nose. We adopted Winston first and namd him for Winston Churchill because he had the puffiest little face and cute squinty eyes. Clementine was rescued from a life on the streets. She was named after (who else?) Lady Clementine Churchill, Winston's wife. Winston and Clemmie took to each other right away, and now they are inseparable. When Clemmie had to be rushed to the emergency room earlier this year, we couldn't leave Winston at home. He actually howled until we took him, too. Winston is the boss simply by virtue that he can lay on Clementine and completely immobilize her. It's a good thing, too, because Clem is extremely bossy. They both love chasing and (sometimes) retrieving sticks and balls. Their favorite toys are anything soft with squeakers in them. They will go nuts at the sound of a squeaky toy, and then tear at them until they have dissected the squeaker and destroyed it. They love hanging at the dog park and the beach, and their best friends are Wrigley and Maggie Moffett, two Labs who also should be Pets of the Month. These are our babies, aand they are living proof that if you make room in your life, good things will move into your hearts. We can't imagine a home without them.
